About

Youth Development provide a range of creative programs, activities and events for young people living in Mandurah. The activities and programs are a combination of centre based activities run at the Billy Dower Youth Centre and out in the local community.

Youth Development Programs and Activities:

 

Young Men’s Program

Mon: 3.30 - 6.00pm

Learn leadership and teamwork skills while engaging in fun activities like: laser tag, surfing and skateboard art. Does not run on school holidays. Age 11-17. $2 per session.

 

Young Women’s Program

Tue: 3.30 - 6.00pm

Learn leadership and teamwork skills while engaging in fun activities like: art, cooking and surfing.  Does not run on school holidays. Age 11-17. $2 per session.

 

AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

Wed: 3.00 - 6.00pm; Thu: 3.00 – 8.00pm; Fri: 3.00 – 6.00pm

Activity room is opened for free to participate in activities such as movies, bingo, pool, basketball, computer/internet use and video gaming. Age 11-17.

 

Spotlite Youth Theatre

Friday: 5.00 – 8.00pm

Workshops and performances regularly in community events - teaches theatre, circus & breakdancing. 
Free rehearsals – Lessons $2 – Age 11-25.

 

GNOONIE YOUTH FOOTBALL CUP

The Gnoonie Cup football match is an event where local Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal aged 11-17 years play a community game of football which promotes safer choices in life.

 

RAHCON - POP CULTURE CONVENTION

Mandurah’s Pop Culture convention is everything comics, anime, fantasy sci-fi and gaming. Features an Anime Lab Screening Room, gaming, Cosplay competition, Traders Hall, live performances, giveaways and more! 

 

Junior Council

Group of Year 6’s from Mandurah primary schools, given the opportunity to learn about local government and act as a youth consulting group.

 

Mad Skillz & Mentoring

Free assistance for young people seeking work, further education/qualifications, or assistance with resume writing and job hunting skills. Places limited. Age 14-25.

 

School Holiday Program

Low-cost activities and outings during the school holidays including laser tag, ice skating, surfing and Adventure World. Places are limited.

 

Boxing

Mon-Thu

Boxing program for young people of all ages and levels to promote self-discipline and fitness. For more information, check out their Facebook.

One session = $6; Two sessions = $10;
One Term (10 weeks) / Once a week = $60 / Twice a week = $100

Beginners - Tue/Thu - 4:30-5:30pm
Intermediate - Mon/Wed - 6.00-7.00pm
Advanced - Tue/Thu - 6.00-7.30pm

 

Mandurah Minecraft

Thu: 3.30pm - 5.00pm
Weekly

Gaming session for young people to play Minecraft. Prizes each term for best creation. 
Play survival or creative mode – use Billy Dower PC’s or bring your own laptop. 

$2 per session. Places are limited. Does not run on school holidays.

 

Sector X

31st of December 2015.
Youth event for New Years Eve, in collaboration with the Mandurah Foreshore New Years Eve festivities.

Art exhibition, competition & workshops located at CASM.

 

National Youth Week

Coming April 2016. 

 

Elementz

A program inspired by hip hop culture, featuring MCing, Hip Hop and Breakdancing.
Term 4 2015 will be held at the Falcon Library 4.00 – 6.00pm.
